A girl is found by the highway

two towns over from ours. If her hair

was knotted with

brown blood and thorns the

police report didn't say. I killed a

butterfly and rubbed the color from its wings, the saddest shade

We each have our own turf
we defend at any cost.
Boasting of our victories
dismissing what we’ve lost.
your words taste of poison
and mine like bitter wine
living here  in our Palestine.

Red ink tells the story

Whether fiction or non

Red traced his words

Diligently through Christ tongue

Red ink marks progression

During the adolescences

Red ink pinpoints digression

Espressos and cocoa

Fill the a.m. doors

Coffee beans and honey

Pastries and olive oil

Cinnamon incense

Fresh from the writer's novel

Lavender presence

Fresh from the poet's collection

Directions and reflections

Visions from upon

Mysteries of feelings

Solved through letters and songs

As the orchestra blends

More cultures dine in

Unfolding pads and pens

There are very few pictures of me

This is because I avoid making friends

Avoid making friends with cameras

In that order

I march toward April

Aware that she is staring

Picturing someone else

The man was a truck driver -
like he thought
the wheels could keep him
from rumbling through -
the rock that rolled from
family to frightened family
the dark rimmed glasses
that never shook when he smacked
our cheeks
already turned.

A magical moment they say.

Not fully aware

Our minds elsewhere.

An interesting kiss

Somewhat forbidden

Not thinking clear

Stop. Stop. Stop.

I wasn't really sure except for that.

The man was tall with short dark hair
I can't recall exactly how dark or how short
but he clasped the woman to him

She had longer hair and it was lighter than his
(Blond?  Red?  No I'm fairly sure I'd have remembered red.)
And I don't think

You yes you stain me

Deeply

Like tomato sauce on the good china plates

Like red Georgia clay under fingernails from summer sun work

You yes you stain me

Deeply

Though thoughts of death continuously plague me

I cannot fathom a reality without them.

As large as a boundless sea of cliches

I've cried

The desire yet no will.

Here denial does not exist.

The escapes of myriads.

At the edge of a daunting
