Pine a blooming parasite

Twined

Poised on a twig a jackdaw

Issues a pungent cry

Indignant towards celestial

Lights

telling tales of abandoned buildings
       in the rain
              places we'll never own
       memories we'll never know.

we scuttle under floors
and question the meaning of rail lines
you tell me about places you got to get off
           or the rail men'il get ya.

i only remember that one is in

thought it was perfect but 

I forgot the name.

We could not talk about it.

A girl is found by the highway

two towns over from ours. If her hair

was knotted with

 

brown blood and thorns the

police report didn't say. I killed a

butterfly and rubbed the color from its wings, the saddest shade

we defend at any cost.
Boasting of our victories
dismissing what we’ve lost.
your words taste of poison
and mine like bitter wine
living here  in our Palestine.
