Dogs howl ghost's bark
Fills the night
Like electric light
Bones chill behind the window
Sealed visions remain locked like
chains
Always rain
Some feeling rain
Others getting wet
Barbarian’s sweat
Still alive cycling as rain
Was sweat then rain
Nothing can be contained
Forever not your wife
Not your son
Nor the bullets of a gun
Not war not crime
And most certainly not your mind
Brown, red, violet, wet, silhouette
Painting of a man with AIDS
Alone he stands
For something
If not he would fall for everything
And I understand
Late at night my own world
But common sense
Shatters it
Come morning
But it is common sense
To have fear
Of leaving your cage
Because the food is there
But growing up
I always felt bad
For the goldfish in bags
Then bowls
Then toilet bowls
That could have had rivers and
streams
And some things
Taken from the ocean
And fed
Some magic potion
When they could be free
But if you keep them so long
They no longer feed
Themselves
They forget
What life’s all about
They only have a couple memories
That they live out
Over and over again
Seems like Satan
Rantin and ravin
Bout the wealth he’s takin
And no not tour dollars and your bills
But the time you could be livin
Instead of being killed
