My recent addition 'What is...?' was an experiment at writing a very short and concise poem. How people will see it is another matter.
But this got me thinking. What is the worlds shortest poem? (Not including title.)
So I googled it and found it was a piece by Strickland Gillilan (1869-1954) called 'Fleas'.
Fleas
Adam
Had 'em.
(This poem is actually accredited to a number of writers, with various titles, but the body of the work is generally the same.)
'Ah, but hold on,' (I hear someone say/shout/call). 'Hold on right there.'
And sure enough, upon checking my results again, I found that it is in fact this piece written by Charles Ghigna (1945 - Present), called 'I'.
I
Why?
(I guess Charles has that 'all sown up' forevermore, (unless someone can write a poem containing only half a word?????))
So keeping shortness in mind, and wondering if it possible to steal the number two spot (in my imaginary top ten), I came up with this;
Sitting, Thinking.
If only....
Is this a poem? I don't mean in the conformed, structure, defined meaning, I mean, does it feel like a poem?
Interested in your opinions.
