A Herald Of Forgotten Dreams
Dew mottling the tawny boughs
A rustling breeze contours the forest,
The foot clamps the rain-soaked earth
Revealing a bewildered toad leaping evasively;
A cock shrieks intermittently signifying dawn
The sparrows chirp incessantly upon their lofty lee
Devoid of earth dust and the murky quagmires
A horizon abright nonchalantly with mist lifting;
My heart scintillating with keen ponders
A-new the bounty greenfields of harbours
Where it harbours the end of strife and struggle,
The cessation of rife pauper and plight,
The smothering of sufferance and starvation
And the annexing of the divide that is stifling
Our lithe,young country.
A jolt of joy jinxes a myriad mirth
When I fathom of yesteryear`s hero`s and heroines,
The brevity and candor of Mandela.
The fervent spirit of iron-wrought will
Of the women who stomped to the Union Buildings,
A forge lies ahead for us to transcend.
