I've been eaten away
by the worm
The parasite left me
rotten and mealy
beneath the hope
of a blue sky
Though my seeds
somehow persevered
locked away
in the forgotten core
buried in darkness
under the littered debris
of a proverbial nuclear fallout
And yet I fear not
this seeming death
For below the earth
the seedling prepares
ready to emerge
beginning anew
Hoping to bear fruit once again
