He put me small into the ground
Tiny imperfect strong and round
Beneath I burrowed until I was gone
To escape the hunger of a wandering fawn
I waited and waited for the rain to come
Finally! I said can I have some?
I felt it surround me and help me grow
But, I was still quite little and helpless you know
The seasons began to change
And I started to feel strange
A little sprout began to grow
Unrecognizable I was for my maker to know
I grew and grew and grew
Until the one day that I had a grander view
To see all around, up and down
Below me now was the beautiful ground
Way up above really high
Was a sea of blue called the sky
A strange way I felt blowing in the breeze
It must be all these new leaves
Birds now use me not only to rest
But also to build a home, that's called a nest
So many things that I have learned
I’ve seen other trees that have been badly burned
I myself feel very blessed,
to be a tree, one of God’s very best.
