she has taken her mind
and broken it
into many
different pieces
you see them all
there
going
coming
and leaving
and almost all at the same time
with no rhyme or reason
just cause that is what she does
others frown
look down as she comes
that crazy bitch
they mumble
under their breaths

I am just like Achilles
Only my heel is my body
And my patricolous is not dead
But dying in way warn gasps
between my sheets
Our mothers were temptresses.
Who sung snakes into hair
And let loose well water from

The poet cast a long shadow
as he took the stage.
A wraith worn from bowing down a thousand times
strumming that old Gibson
cracked and blonde
he sang some lines:
"Livin's mostly wastin' time
and I waste my share

I sit
staring blankly at the woman
counting her cash
and think
what any of this can possibly
speak to these desperate times
It's cold here
but no colder than
anywhere else
I have known before
I look at her
black skirt red halter
gristly but lovely too
She doesn't see me

why’d he let the bastards kill his son?
what kind of god would let that happen
reminds me of my father
If god so loved the world
why does he let the children suffer?
does it make him a bigger man?
why does he put up with

The fields of Detoit
blow a wind of poverty.
Only a soul to find pure
lost in the bells of abandon
churches of empty prayers.
Says the saint
this place needs some help.
Says the saint
stock the shelves of soup kitchens.
Says the saint
but the fields just whisper
of

expanding the space and time that exists in my mind
a battlefield of thoughts
the pieces ravaged like an old familiar testament i no longer vow to appeal
why not sustain the tone of light until we are blinded by reality
a world of infinite water
drowning in air
can you feel the torrential compartments

For the faded and the damned…
There is a barbershop found through the tunnel that runs under Central Station where the lonely of the city converge to cut ties with the world
And some poor girl cries on the steps of an old porch where down and through her hands

and my starving mouth waters
You say to pass the cherries
and I hear a Chopin symphony
I reach for my thesaurus
because this feeling of
awe has caught me here
unknowing
unseeing
unsung
I whisper passive pleasures
and your aching mind yearns
I say pass hold and hover

My worst motorist fear is realized
The lame rental car is out of gas
Angry homeward bound joyriders
honk and swerve to avoid my mess
WHY
is this happening to me?
HOW
did I let it get this far?
WHERE
the hell is a gas station?
