Stress boils under my skin,
Bubbling its way into my organs,
Holding them hostage,
With anxious worry,
Scenarios run through my brain,
Lightning speed,
Burning out my thinking circuits,
Frazzled, frizzled, fried,
Salt water festers,
Behind my jumpy eyes,
Adding weakness,
To my troubles,
And as I debate on crying,
Breaking down and falling,
Dropping to the ground,
And screaming for mercy,
You look at me.
-“You alright honey?”-
Pause...
-“What’s the matter?”-
And I know,
I will make it until tomorrow.
