Aren't we all just the best of savages
cloying at the darkness
with our pointies?
our pretties?
Our thin beaten arms?
And aren't our bruises lovely?
The color of too-soft heat flattened kale
calling parasites to supper
and surrendering to a dying green decay
We're chewing dirt here, sisters
sucking on chemical soaked postage papers
mailing ourselves to an oblivion
soaked with wet tantrums and violence
and empty fucks.
And those dark corners
always the dark corners
leaning into our dreams
with the hardness of rusted iron.
So so far from the hap-crazed crowd
chewing a tooth behind gum
behind nicotine
promethazine
baking soda
mint.
Do you ever have that not-so-now feeling
like you're rotting from the
outside in
as though caught in the web of a shroud?
Falling into that fog of tooth and nail
and bloody cuticles, broken feet
the sweet, sweet here-here
of brutality
shoved back bloody into a pair of patent leather pumps.
Keep chewing the dirt, my sisters
my lovers
my friends
sustenance is hard-sought
in the inky black.
