We strolled those naive shores of youth

A twenty toes dip in ponds of love and fortitude

While our bodies firm in sweat and scented wet

We were blind to the eventual castings of regress

Everything’s gone foggy soggy or lost

The only wet left is tears of fallen frost

Ancient searing mist beats us down

With times watch, her fist, then her crown

Our wanting kept us in search

Where maturity turns a softer blue

The color of our never dying thirst

A place in life for me and you

Once higher than seductive skies

We soared above self-inflicting lies

Till clouds hit mountains and attacked

Settling into the fog of our cataracts

Wrinkling eyes curl up in old lashes

Silver stashes hid in Gretchen grey

A country song gone oh so wrong

A most beautiful youth betrayed

Sinking from those skies above

Young ones caught our song

Thus began their trip through love

Twenty toes dipped in a pond

Glory to all those who shall cum

This most innocent mate of our fate

And long before we must succumb

Wrinkles began to raid our face

Yet we will not trade, oh no!

Not young water for old snow

Nor cooing ponds for yellow toes

But for one more young kiss who knows

A trace of love’s youngest daughter

The scent in air when sex we slaughtered

Nor these memories stranded in cataract eyes

Maybe it’s was dust or maybe eyes just lie

But:

We were young

Then we were old

We were lucky

And oh so bold

We were silver

We were gold

As love got stuck

Between our bones

“I love you sweet cheeks”

Your memories never age
