The night sky is clear, the road is long,

And the miles are many before I sleep.

I turn the radio off and roll down

The windows to let the moment in.

There is a faint touch of cool autumn

In the wind that whispers across my face.

The moon paints a pale glow on the

            Countryside and the drive ahead.

I relax and shake the daily dust from my

Mind, feeling that nothing is out of reach.

I am caught in this moment of freedom

And peace, I’m free to fly tonight.

This is one of the many times that I am

Aware of something more than myself.

Here I am close to the one who gives me

Breath, gives me hope, and gives me life.

Of all the gods, all the idols, and every

Measure of all the worlds, only one came

To me, arms open, and broke the sin of man.

And tonight, I am blessed beyond measure.

I feel my steps can reach deeper ground,

My eyes can search the depths of oceans,

My mind and spirit travel the longest road,

And my soul can walk the deepest night.

We ride together as the miles pass quickly,

And for a short moment I escape the grave.

I embrace the nameless eternity and smile

As I have so many times in my short life.
