STAGED

At noon curtains drawn

By midnight intoxicated

The stage would spin all day

Then lights go out one by one

And velvet moon lights our way.

I wanted to build a stage and pretend

Then recreate a life I could play

The woman you might be the man

Save me from dragons, locked away

I promise you the land.

As the hours pass, faces appear

The crowd is growing, eminence near

But the voice is choking, deaf by ear

The lines are lost, cheering, then at once

The cover disappears.
