Broken Flowers on a Busy Street

Something so full of hopes and dreams
Something so full of life and energy
How could this same thing become so depraved;
So discouraged as broken flowers on a busy street?

From whence did the flowers fall?
Were they on the way to the hospital to say “get well” ”
But get left behind in the fast-paced streets?
Were they being carried to express adoration and accolades?
As a young artist was dancing in her first recital
But get knocked over and crushed by a self-important business man
Too busy to replace them?
I think they were the flowers of a bride never wed
The broken promise of a broken groom
The failed talisman to a young single woman
The very depiction of life and growth meant to bless the couple
But yet, now they are merely broken flowers on a busy street

They are vows rehearsed, but never made
Promises hoped but covenant denied
Investments made in faith, but ended in futile waste
Expected hope, exchanged with despair
They are the barren womb of the hope of youth…..broken
Can the flowers be remade?
The promises seen through?
The vows exchanged?
Covenant reached and
Hope revived?
I think they can
They need not remain broken flowers on a busy street
With selfless, thoughtless, ignorant people who care not
Nor possess understanding of what they have trodden and are treading

People, even the most unintentioned, do not know you
They did not conference with your Maker
Nor breathe into you the spirit of Greatness
They are not the ones who shed the light and spoke the life
To make you grow through resistance
Stand through storms and
Return after your winters
They pass by the broken flowers
And over the broken flowers
Crushing them to smithereens
Not knowing that they can only crush them in this temporal realm
Not realizing that the flowers are made of ethereal stuff;
Outside of time, dispensation and dimension
They cannot break your flowers
That is unless you let them
Pick up your flowers,
Believe the promise
Make the covenant and
Trust to hope; you will not be put to shame
No, indeed you will not
Your flowers have been remade.
