A noose lassos a broken Will
Dangling, weighted taut
by Nothing,
Hopelessness bound
circling life's throat
grasps for breath's love
imagined lock, knot, and choke.
A marionette,
and a character's mask
troubled by threads
woven from ash
A sprinkling of dew quenches
a blade, pierced from within, rusted, serrate.
A time to mourn, a passing glance
a tearful eye,
a wasted chance.
from once what was, to never again,
be the dreams of a child
whose never been.
