Miracle of '84

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Suddenly without warning

Clock countdown in slo-mo

Across the virgin ice top

Cerebral fires an image

Spirit rising warmer

In hot it begins its glow

Against all odds of winning

A wish suddenly exposed

Tears make up the feelings

Purer than hard snow

Eruptions take us over

Hands fly up out of control

Screams flood our bodies

Shakes take over bones

A miracle “it’s a miracle”

We call it USA at home

Invisible and inviolable

Past ego and past logical

The hero’s coming home

A win that never should

A belief it never would

Somehow all together

A few knew they could

The miracle of 84’

There's nothing quite like an ode. It's special because we can all share the poet's experience without having to "divine the intent." Thanks for this poem, Vangoman.
