Tragically

A Hundred and Sixty Thousand per Day

The skin is just pretend

It’s not whom we are within

Soft pupils in colorful arrays

Hard wrinkles press each day

Still the heart pumps

From the sump of our soul

Life is one big hump

We all climb, even though we know

The heart fights like a champion

But microscopic beast takes us down

We think if were positive

Something good might come around

But when all is said and done

There wasn’t enough time

Wasn’t enough fun

Spring cannot rebound

No more earthen sound

Only the quieting

Even as life is rioting

Death has not one friend

Never could we win

Life is the deadliest

Of all human sins

.

Tragically
