Iron Wood

Poets impregnate stoic barriers

Pragmatic warrior affixed to Styx

Falling in love in Quid pro quo

Fevers infusing and shine like a pro

Licking lexicons chewing and spit

Dueling word puzzles until they fit

Pettifoggers who just won’t let it go

Essential wisdoms pay for the show

With grudge we trudge into the steel of mahoganies

Gangs engrained we gain from hymnal crosses

Word pullers insane from this poetic agony

We are best stained from our worst tragedies

In small closed clubs we gather as few

Praying together we can pay these dues

Yet desperate to believe in me and you

Poets engrained in the steel of mahoganies
