Roses of Greece

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

It is a rose

In the middle

Surrounded by bent pillows

In the background

Plays the cello

In a lifetime harmony

*

It is the shading

Of a sparrows

And the cooing

In the willows

Songs sang and carols

Worn words warming me

*

Art is their start

The music from the harp

It plays the main Part

Of the soul

Of the heart

Of their humanity

*

“I love you Greece”

Now that they’ve stolen your cloths

Against the crashing of high tide rocks

Locked in romance of each others wit

One hand holding your past

The other is letting go

Art forms the reward

Showing the world how to be bold

Writers with ink filled pens

Painters of coming snow

Ink and paint engages you

Your world was falling slow

Has freed you to go

So arise and go now my friends

Under the bridges of Ano Poli

While love is stuck to your face

While laughter is stuck to your friends

A warm wind replaces

That nastiness of businessmen

We watch the grace of Greece grow

Arise from the seas of peace

We want everyone in Greece to know

We love you Greece

Now that they’ve stolen your cloths

America.
