I live in a war zone

I have had my ideals beaten bloody

I have had my dreams held hostage

I have had my future executed

By powerful dictators ruling behind veils

Hellbent on disaster capitalism.

Sucking out the life breath

Through under handed foreplay

And blatant sadistic fetish fixes

Of staggering rates.

I bought the lie and brought it home

Only to find there were missing pieces

And instructions in a foreign tongue

With no warranty

Or return policy.

I crossed my ankles

I wiped my nose.

I stacked the books neat on the shelf

I sipped my tea quietly.

What happened to my pound of sugar?

The flour, and the eggs, the butter, and the milk

Who raided the pantry?

Was it seized by the foot soldiers

Following the order of their hard tasking lieutenant

To not leave anyone alive?

But they were mistaken

I was broken but not destroyed.

I was hurting but not forgotten.

I was starving but not afraid.

I live in a war zone

And now it is time to fight back

For it is no longer just "I"

It has become "we".

Hip hip hooray Shell, Soon an innoculation for this white tooth political and corporate dissoluteness will be heard. They come at you with wide smiles and take it all for "The greater good" or to get wood! You've captured the times NOW. I love...

Hip hip hooray Shell, Soon an innoculation for this white tooth political and corporate dissoluteness will be heard. They come at you with wide smiles and take it all for "The greater good" or to get wood! You've captured the times NOW. I love the way you show that this is war and "We" are at the end of our "Peace". This poem lets me know that this sentiment is sweeping the country and soon will rise up for the first time in two hundred years to protect our children future from Democrats and Republicans alike. I would have change one or two line-but thats me. "I was starving" that made me hungrier. Something along those lines. But as always GREAT PIECE.
