Rose Buds

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Plant those rose buds
Under the paving slabs
We'll come back
For them later.
After the calm
Before the big storm
When the blue skies
Start their decline.
Before the heavens cry
And the fat lady voices
Her final ballad.
We'll go back for those
Hidden rose buds.
And watch as they
Climb through
The cracks in the ground
While the world
Around them crumbles.

This is a simple poem with a straightforward message but it does speak to a mood that many feel. "When the blue skies/
Start their decline" is an expression that sums it up well.
