Sit by your bed side
Holding your hand after an attempted suicide.
Make sure your Grandma is comfortable
When she’s dying.
Keep your Father safe from bed sores,
While he comes out of coma.
Tell you the truth about your rights,
Give you power.
Wash your Sisters body,
After the life support has failed.
Get your Brother fed, up and moving,
Give you the best shower ever,
Without getting water down your trach.
Teach you how to feed yourself,
After a brain injury.
Remind you that life has its purpose,
No matter what.
Rock your sick Children,
While you rest.
Talk to you like a person,
Sometimes with tough love.
Share my own strength with you,
When you are withdrawing.
Keep you safe under my wing,
Best I can.
Care for you and yours with my heart,
It’s what I do.
