What are Poems?

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

What are or should be poems
but inspiration in and of a moment...?
They rest shall dormant in your heart
until time comes for them to start
describing dreams desires
crossing trenches and wires
on battlefield of life...
Forcing them is like a knife
stabbing through your soul.
That shouldn't be a poets goal...

From a letter to a poetess on 25th September 2010.

Thank you for taking your time and giving my poems a chance. They are though few published here due to serious lack of time, but in a couple of months they will multiply! I will consider your comment here a compliment, if I may. Thank you! Eloquence is though also my curse in poetry, because my future profession (student of engineering sciences) demands it... So I often struggle with susceptibility and delicateness of poetry... With that veil that gives poetry it's charm... More so, because I am otherwise a very truthful and frank person. So my poetry is often too straight forward and a lyrical piece quickly turns into a blunt story... Therefore I consider your Writer's block eloquent enough! Regards!

Truth lies in your comments to the Wicked one, as does your poem. I am a scientist and trouble solver for engineers. Your poem is your answer/move the logic aside when the heart cries tears from the soul, let it flow- let it go. Sometimes we humans reverse the truths in life, it is the heart not the mind that is the knife. Without the knife you cannot cut through life.

You are right! But the river is a one way flow. It erodes the banks - a foothold. Temporarily dries them out, such crumble do the heart and soul! So time must and does stop the flow... Or does so a counter-flow... Collecting pieces as I go, in...

You are right! But the river is a one way flow. It erodes the banks - a foothold. Temporarily dries them out, such crumble do the heart and soul! So time must and does stop the flow... Or does so a counter-flow... Collecting pieces as I go, in each reflections do I see, like kind words from you for me! Of them a mill I'll build for harvest of words from Parnassus hill! Thank you very much! I am flattered that such a notable poet noticed my humble contributions.

This is a nice piece, and very true.
I hate to force it, it never finds the flow, it has to build up inside till it is ready to go, and then be released with the fire, love and rage, like an angry tiger escaping its cage.

*Don't why I decided to write a comment in poetic lines, but it just came out that way. Another of those moments. Just wish they were better lines *

Thank you for your kindness. Your words are words of a moment you wrote them in. I'm flattered that my poetry inspires you all to write comments in verse.
