Drapery

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

On the other side of the chasm
she resembles drapery--
grandmother's drapery--
with a large medallion hanging from her neck
and heavy printed fabric clinging loosely

Casually her shoulder is exposed
displaying pale skin and pink sheer fabric.
She is old.
She is alive.
As long as she

is,
she will continue
to hang at the bar.

The old men admire the drapes
and the choice of decor.
I look away.

The would-be suitors look disgusted with me,
seeing themselves 30 years ago.

This was incredibly captivating, with each line and word. I admire your take on the humour of it all.. :)"R"
