Over the Fire

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

I love this world.

Its suspicions and fears

all fabricated and ritualized.

Legitimized for our amusement

Fruitful youths smashing in faces

Forging blood oaths

at the bottom of shot glasses.

Sustained on diets

of instant noodles and hopeful thinking.

We are victims of circumstance

Purveyors of the grand calamitous comedy.

All before the stage

burns to the ground.

Hmmmm, is it wrong to call this piece juicy? I felt like I was chewing on it...like instant noodles while smelling smoke and ashes. Damn good poem.

Oh man, thanks for the glowing compliments! This poem was one of those that just poured out onto the page. It just felt right, haha.
