My Broken Friend

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Dirty arms wrapped in dirty sleeves

Streaks of snot sun glistening

A holy prayer in holy jeans

The only thing he has left clean

A broken pair of asphalt shoes

Arm tattoo with born to lose

Eyes that stare in red and pale

His Beggars sign reads

Nothing left to sell

..

Then I realize we played as kids

I wondered what the hell he did

His smile he gave to me so free

I bought from him his misery

..

For Sale: Broken heart, asphalt shoes, sign that reads “born to lose”
