A Town Too Small

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Naked
as I
stand in front
of blank faces; nothingness.
They refuse to wonder
to dream
Think.
Life's handouts
delivered like mail
to their undeserving fingertips.
Embarrassed; I stand
alone but
seen
collectively. I
plead for independence.
Whisper screams at my
pitiful conformist image.
I stand
naked.
But blank
faces can't see
the nakedness.
Me.

I really like this poem, it's simply written and stark, like its subject matter.

I can picture you standing all alone in a crowded room, the only one searching from where the light comes in. Great poem.
