Bread Crumbs for Starving Birds

By Michael Lee Johnson (Version 1)

Smiling across the ravine

snow cloaked footbridge.

Prickly ropes slick with ice

snow clad boards pepper sprinkled

with raccoon tracks, virgin markers,

a fresh first trail.

Across and safe,

I toss yellow bread crumbs

onto white snow, for starving birds.

Not Channeling Frost he was Iambic, I'm free verse more like Carl Sanburg, but influenced my Frost-love them both. I don't know your real name, but if you write and care to contribute, I run 5 poetry sites. Yes, I am after Carl Sandburgs...

Not Channeling Frost he was Iambic, I'm free verse more like Carl Sanburg, but influenced my Frost-love them both. I don't know your real name, but if you write and care to contribute, I run 5 poetry sites. Yes, I am after Carl Sandburgs legacy, not to pass him but to honor him like Abe Lincoln. Just toss Michael Lee Johnson into Google-you will find my site and my poetry sites to submit to. But most of all thank you for caring. Michael Lee Johnson, I hope this reaches you.
