They found me there

while they were cleaning the attic

in the bureau with the missing top

stuck in the back of the drawer.

They pulled me out

and brushed the dust away from my face.

How they did rejoice to see me!

Remembering with sunset eyes

All the laughter we drank in

All the tears we sang out

All the secrets we swallowed

I was found!

I was remembered!

Oh despair was no longer my pillow

for my feet were to rest warmly

on the hearts of their memories.

Then with a quick hug

they put me back in the drawer

headed towards the stair

and turned out the light.

Redeemtion of being remembered is such a valuble lesson to us all. this poem has touching moments. I loved the cleaness and direct approch to the subject matter. I wanted to be there when the memories flared. You have a way with your words I love.

I couldn't resist using one of my "3 comments per post" self-imposed rule to say that I love this poem, and agree totally with van fleet on the redemption aspect of the verse. Well done, as usual.
