Hide and Seek

Perched upon the swings and slides

Children both; one hides one finds.

Sluggish children no where to be found

where metal and iron shoots from the ground.

and best of all the screams of glee;

from the child upon his knees

He closes his eyes and counts to three.

Thinking where is he? or,

where is she?

Thats my favorite playground memory.

Of the ones you've recently submitted, all quite fine by the way, this one caught my eye and held it. I dont know whether it was the topic of childhood memory, or the cadence of the rhythm, but I truly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

This is really great. I've been into these "playground memories" and mining childhood memories as a source of inspiration in writing for a few years now, and as much as it makes for some great moments in time captured in writing, it's very depressing to me, for you can't go back to that time. I often find myself driving around my old neighborhood when I'm in that neck of the woods, just reminiscing and talking to myself about those days....god I miss those times, and this piece brings to mind those times strongly. Thanks for writing it.

Something about this reminds me of e.e. cummings' Balloon Man...I loved the place that it took me to.
