Here’s Me
Shaking with the need
To let go of this anxiety

Promise the reigns of control
All for me to soothe with ease

What bitterness is this-
What awareness is this-
What need is this –

To control the little world within my view
To set things right
To make people see
To free myself

Are these my goals, ultimately-

I guess so…
Since control is something to hold like
Poles on crowded buses and a right
Not to pay tolls

I need it, cause it needs me
Control controls me
And all I have to set me free
Is replacing someone
Within my own shoes of captivity

How silly!
How empty, and cold
Yet, doesn’t everyone pay tolls-

Don’t we all turn our eyes away
From self, warm promises on our
Tongues already gone cold
Empty words said to ease
The void of silences filled with
Judgment of conscience and

Those tolls we pay are not worth
Being bought

But yes,
Back to me----
How to satisfy my undying need
For control – like it’s the dollar
In my city of greed

These desires – so empty!
Lord, help me...

Written like one who has lived it. We all want control but can't stand being controlled. Fantastic.
