Alien Touch

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

There’s strangeness in your fingertips
And coldness in your glance
Each embrace another icy clutch
Unholy and unnatural
Distant and severe
Within the landscape of your alien touch

You revel in your nonchalance
And flaunt your ample cool
As though love alone

could never mean that much
It’s not that you’re indifferent
Just bound up by the rule
That is the nature of your alien touch

I don’t pretend to understand
The depth of this compulsion
Or why I’m so unnerved
by your practiced insouciance

Another night I’ll walk alone
Seeking shelter from the dark
Searching for that one redeeming crutch
But there’s nothing I might find
That in any way compares
To the stroke of your alien touch
