Quintessence

I quench
the thirst of
my ear against
your chest

to tongue the
meter of
your heartbeat;

the fever in
your exhalant
and
my inhalant
inscribes the

the knot of our r
quintessence.

A passionate poem. Short, concise, yet deeply felt. The images snake around the language toward the conclusion quite well. Very good.
