Should You Ask

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
With hair as dark as your heart is fair
you wander through my world.
The Silence is broken by your soft laugh.
I look just in time to catch the smile
that comes so often
(never often enough)
to play with your dark eyes.

In silence I watch I guard I protect.
Waiting for you to call
wanting to be needed
looking to preserve
every small happiness.

Ever present, hovering
at the edge of your mind,
will I always remain,
as you struggle to find out what it is
that will allow you to become you.

Should you ask, I will guide you
to that which may be the you
you will want to be.
I will walk with you
as you discover
where each step takes you.

A companion,
for no one should walk alone;
a friend,
to share the hardships;
a protector,
to clear the way;
all of these I will be for you
Should you but ask.

Your emotions seem tortured in this poem ... that makes for good material!

The tension felt from this poem is palpable.
